That is so true. I hold my breath every time we go since it always opens later in the day...

CoP has changed sooo many times. That is the brilliance of the attraction. Walt created it to show progress...and then a vision of the future (that is available today). If what we continue to see is the early 1990s at the end we will never see progress.

I don't have any problem with them updating the Carousel, I would just be sad to see it closed permanently :(

Oh ditto...it's the best think in Tomorrowland IMO. It puts the "Walt" in WDW.

Well, someone mentioned how much it typifies Walt, and I just said how I sometimes worry that they will just up and close the attraction since it always opens so late compared to the rest of Tomorrowland. I think it is one of the easiest attractions to be run by CM's though. I think it only requires 2 or 3 right? Who was our lucky subsonicer that worked CoP? Can you confirm how many CM's work CoP?

Disney has tried to close COP. They couldn't do it, there was outrage from the public.

It is closed at DLR. They could do it at WDW. Bring it down for a renovation and just not re-open it. After Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, there will no advance notices of rides permanently closing any more.

I think they need to renovate more than just the last scene. You skip too much time between 1940's to current. They need to renovate the whole ride and spread out the transitions to be greater lengths of time - start in 1900's, then to 1950's, then to 1990's, and then to the present.

That is as close to meeting Walt Disney as many people will ever get. I hope they never close it.

This is our first ride of every trip. It would be so sad to see if closed. I enjoy listening to the older version on Subsonic. You can hear how the role of women changed not only between the scenes but at the time of the recording. I think it is fun!!

No woman's role is still the same, read "From Redbook"

COP had it right!

Home Economics For Women In The 2010's
July 31st 2010 00:40
From a 2010's high school home economics textbook, teaching girls how to prepare for married life.

2010 housewife
1. Have dinner ready: Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal on time.

This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him, and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospects of a good meal are part of the warm welcome needed.

2. Prepare yourself: Take 15 minutes to rest so you will be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your make-up, put a ribbon in your hair and be fresh looking.
He has just been with a lot of work- weary people. Be a little g** and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift.

3. Clear away the clutter. Make one last trip through the main part of the house just before your husband arrives, gathering up school books, toys, paper, etc. Then run a dust cloth over the tables.
Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you a lift, too.

4. Prepare the children: Take a few minutes to wash the children's hands and faces if they are small, comb their hair, and if necessary, change their clothes.
They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.

5. Minimize the noise: At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise of washer, dryer, dishwasher or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quiet.
Be happy to see him. Greet him with a warm smile and be glad to see him.

6. Things to avoid: Don't greet him with problems or complaints. Don't complain if he's late for dinner.
Count this as minor compared with what he might have gone through that day.

7. Make him comfortable: Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or suggest he lie down in the bedroom. Have a cool or warm drink ready for him. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes.
Speak in a low, soft, soothing and pleasant voice. Allow him to relax and unwind.

8. Listen to him: You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first.

9. Make the evening his: Never complain if he does not take you out to dinner or to other places of entertainment; instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure, his need to be home and relax.

10. The goal: Try to make your home a place of peace and order where your husband can relax.

Yeah...the whole point of CoP is to show progress. So all you have to do is pick a theme and show its progress from 1900 to 2010 and beyond.

The hardest part would most likely be recording it to sound right. The original and the one now sound ok...but the "Now Is the Time" narration just sounds weird and out of place IMO.
