DCA Gets A Worthy Overhaul Budget

Postby Dr. Ravenscroft » Jul Thu 19, 2007 8:07 am

I was reading http://www.miceage.com yesterday after not reading it for 2 weeks and I found an article that was talking about DCA new overhaul budget..........1 BILLION DOLLARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so happy when I read that I almost cried. Disney is doing it the right way now, first it was the Sub ride with it's starting budget under 70 million but after Iger came in it was bumped up to 150 million.

As long as they don't spend it on a solid gold "Zipper", "Gravitron", "Scrambler", or any other parking lot fair ride, I'm all for it.

I got really excited by this article when I read too. Let's hope they do it right this time.

Still, even when Al reports things, they're not always 100% accurate. Let's file this under "allegedly" until we see some real, significant changes. A billion dollars may sound like a lot now, but for all we know that might just mean materials and labor to repaint trash cans and railings

I'll just be excited if DCA finally gets some freaking shade.

If there is any money being poured into the parks, the more power to them.

How much did it cost to construct DCA to begin with? The number in my head is about $700,000,000.00. Is that about right?

I believe the number was $650 millon for DCA and $750 million for Downtown Disney.

Thank Walt. Hallelujah.

I'm thinking if they'd done set the park up right to being with (thinking Animal Kingdom) it wouldn't have taken so much to fix it.
No, no... He's got a point.

Ahh, but it will never be complete, as long as there's imagination left in the world!

So I didn't read the article yet, are there specific plans? Shade will be added, I hope!

This is a copy of what Napoleon D posted today.

I'm really liking the idea of a 1920s LA style 'Main Street'. The Cars land looks intriguing as well. I just hope they manage to find some sort of theming to base it all around and tie the park together. The changes sound imaginative though and that's a great start!

It is looking promising, but what they are saying about the adding 12 acres just add's to my fear that they would take away the Parking lot at the corner of Katella and Harbor. I was still holding out hope that they were going to save that lot, I consider it the "secret" lot. And it is nice that the little Mermaid is Finally getting real recognition with an anchor ride.

Like Esmeralda said the Carsland sound good, they could definitely theme it very well, (especially with that summer heat and dryness) but my fear is that they theme this area and get stuck with it. What I mean is after they come up with another movie or ride idea how are they going to fit it into that area? Don't get me wrong I like it I just hope they don't get "locked" into it. The Indy inspired ride makes me smile, I'm guessing that they may include this in WDW later too.
