In the lastest issue of MiceChat they have a little section devoted to poor Alice's shutdown...sounds like it wasn't all that unexpected after all...

These two photos show the outside portion that is the area of concern...you enter the attraction on the bottom level and later in the ride you exit at the top level and wind around down to the lower level once again...

It's a tad bit jerky on the top portion when it weaves around the track but it's really not that bad.

Ok, then. Interesting timing. How long has this attraction been there?
Professor McGonagall: Professor Moody! What are you doing?
Professor Moody: Teaching.
Professor McGonagall: Teach - is that a student?
Professor Moody: Technically it's a ferret.

elizabethswann, it sounds like OSHA is simply concerned for the workers' safety if they need to work on the track and not for park-goers as they are riding.
It also sounds like it has been something Disney knew about but couldn't quite agree on what sort of barriers would work and still fit into the theming.
MadEye, several sources list the opening as June 1958, so the attraction has been happily transporting passengers to Wonderland for over 52 years without any major problems.

You're right about that, Amy. I hope they figure it out on how to make it all work and fit with the theming.

If it is just the maintance crew why can't they wear harnesses with ropes. That way it keeps the theming. The guest would never see it. This makes sense to me but OSHA seems to always over complicate things!!

I really hope they just do a pop up safety railing that sits tucked on the side of the track and is raised when needed.

That's what I hope they do. Almost like the bumper bars in bowling alleys.

Exactly elizabethswann. They are the most inconspicuous and would satisfy the "issue" without ruining the appearance.

This is what it looks like so far with the tarps and scaffolding. Nothing of interest so far but I hope something happens within the next few days.

Wouldn't that be awful if those were the railings they were going to use

I know I would never go on that ride again if that were the railings.

Oh, I would go, but I wouldn't want to take any photos that included those ugly things in the photo, blech!

Or that. Still, if that were the case, it'd ruin the poor ride but here's to hoping they do well with it!

If they had an issue with safety I would not worry about the ride b/c People are more important than any expeience but they have not had any issues. I can't believe that have to ruin a good thing just because.
