I thought I was hot stuff when while I was there I got a 9600 baud modem. it was the fastest at the time. My dad was replacing his and gave it to me, or else I wouldn't have been able to afford it, haha! I think he was getting a 14.4...
Ah, those were the days... Windows 3.1, then OH WOW Windows 95. *happysighs* my inner geek is happy reminiscing.
I'm thinking you might be the only one missing those slower processing days

Hehehe! Well, I can't say that I *MISS* them.. I guess it it just that I miss those days of discovering new things about computer and the internet and such, if that makes sense. I guess it is more of a case of nostalgia than actually missing the fact that it takes a long time for even a simple program to start.
In the rush rush get it done now society we have, that would never fly. :)

But I do have some OLD OLD games on floppies (remember those, folks? I mean the BIG 5.25 floppies not the 3.5 ones) that I have no way to play and I wish I did. I kinda wish I could go back and play those 8 bit (at best) games again to relive happy childhood days.

Funny enough, there have been ocassions where people turn up with 5.25 disks or 3.5 diskettes, but none of our current desktops around at work can take either. I luckily have kept two out-of-date machines just for this purpose - to read either of these when they appear out of the blue!

Do they even sell 3.5s any more? I have a slot for them.

There are places online that you can get them, but not at stores, no. Not where *I* work.

I do have one OLD machine at home that has a 3.5 drive, but the problem is that it is running Unbuntu and I don't have a copy of Win 98 or Win 95 I could install on it. If I did, I would. A shame. I work on computers at my job and once in a while we get old machines that have 3.5 but I don't think we have gotten any 5.25 ones in.

Ironically enough just yesterday at work someone wanted some information transferred from some 3.5 floppies to her new comp. I am not sure if we have a way to do it. I will see when I go into workk today.

I have no idea - but it's amazing what turns up in old files around here...

I remember having games on cartridges for my old C64. Not floppy disks...cartridges. And I had fun playing them too.

This topic thread is starting to sound like a bunch of old people going on "When I was a kid, we had to walk to school 30 miles in snow while fighting off hungry packs of wolves..."

It is interesting looking back at the Guest/WDW relationship over the past 4 decades...and how each decade has been completely different.

Pong?!?   Wasn't that when Atari's were made out of stone and sold by Fred Flintsone at the local department store in Bedrock?

We talk about these things like they were ancient history, but it's only about 30 years ago (then again, to people like Len90, anything that predates his birth may be considered ancient history..)

Hahah! I wish I had a tape drive, that would be like the ultimate old nercy computer system, or maybe the old punch card systems like my dad started programming on. :)
