Any other thrill ride chickens here?

Boy, that really sucks. I am sorry to hear that. At least nothing serious happened and you realized it before you became a statistic.

Luckily the ride ended before anything happened. I thought it was just a one off, but when I got back home I went to my doctor, they did tests and found out that I have a bit I a blood flow problem, small veins in my neck. I'm not talking about half sized or anything but it is a 10% reduction in size. This is enough to cause me to black out easily on thrill rides. This is a terrible prospect for me considering that is you pass out on a roller coaster you can easily snap your neck, or at least hurt it severely, when the ride makes a sharp turn or something.
I have had my neck broken twice. Yes you've read that correct. Same break as Chris Reeves, I broke mine in whiplash injuries not compression. It happened years ago ( when I was 18). I'm lucky (and God and Christ love me) I can ride what I want. It helps to have a Steel reinforced neck!

To answer a question. It's why I live in Tennessee and am a Gator fan. Back in 1978 Shands Teaching Hospital was the 1 of only 2 hospitals in the country that could do my surgery. I was also in the second HALO brace in the country. Yes I am a life long GATOR fan!

'Round these parts we have a Six Flags. The rides there bounce you around much much more. The worst ride at WDW is nothing compared to 6F.

Oh I can handle the Matterhorn, and POTC drop and for some reason Test Track, and such like that. It is just the Rollercoasters like RnR, ToT, Everest, California Screamin', etc.

I am extremely similar to you as I handled Matterhorn and BTMR with ease along with POTC and Test Track. I can't handle the real tough coasters. I am hoping to try ToT if we go this summer, but it is tough to convince anyone to go with me. I did Mission Space also, but 5-10 minutes after I felt the effects and had to get some water.

I had that happen to me too. I thought I was going to injure myself badly, I had my arms interlocked around the bar. I yanked that thing so hard into that guy's belly he let out quite a yelp, but I say screw that- I'm not actually going to plumet 13 stories or be the pingpong ball in a match between the floor and ceiling because of your fixation with churros and beer!

WHAT!? That was the best part about going with my parents when I was a kid. My dad was 400+ pounds before he developed diabetes and as a kid I would always insist on riding next to him on BTMR and ToT, because the lap bar was so far off my lap. Now I am just upset that I am grown up and not that much smaller than the people I sit next to.

Nope, not a thrill ride chicken here. I love all Disney coasters, and most of non-Disney coasters too. Only thing I really don't like are free-falls...that would explain why I've only ridden ToT twice. Although that really wasn't as much as disliking it as it was always so out of the way (DCA's ToT is in a little corner all by itself) and I didn't like it that much to make a special trek for it.

It really helped on my second ride though because then I knew that I was being PULLED down, not just dropped. Somehow, that makes you feel a bit better, lol!

Oh. And I refuse to do the Fun Wheel moving gondola's again. Just sayin'. Did it twice, and never again, thank you very much!

When my boys where little they never wanted to ride a coaster together. If they rode with my DW or I they got air time because of the size difference.

Future Guy wrote:I have a confession to make: I am a giant chicken. I've got thrill-ride-o-phobia. How big of a wimp am I? I refuse to ride Thunder Mountain or Splash Mountain. Heck, even the teensy three-or-four-foot drop at the beginning of Pirates of the Caribbean gives me the willies.

I don't mind simulator rides like Star Tours or Mission:Space, because I know that they're just simulators and I'm not actually going anywhere. But coasters or rides like Tower of Terror do a very good job of convincing me that I'm about to die.

Am I the only one with this affliction, or does anyone else out there stay away from all those Disney thrill rides?
To some extent, yeah. I'll raise my hand. I blame my past, but won't go intio details.
However I have been able to do splash mountain at both parks, never at DL again because I hate the ride vehicle. I have done Thunbder mountain, though I have to psych myself out for it. Did Space mountain at DL, will never do it again because I felt that my head was about to be hit by something metal, and I didn't enjoy the nausea afterwards.

I admit to freaking out on Gadget's Go coaster once. Plus I've never been able to coax myself onto the Matterhorn. and Even though I desparately want to see the Yeti, I can't get on Everest either. Also a no go for Rock n roller coaster. Oh, and forget ToT, not happening here.

Mission space is a Green team experience for me but I use the TRUE excuse that I do have neck problems from a car wreck, (Though I wouldn't do it if my neck was fine, I'd just have to make up an excuse.)

Yup, don't like drops, Don't like the nausea, not really my thing. You go ahead, I'll take the kids on its a small world again. :peter_pan: because as you said "Coasters or rides like Tower of Terror do a very good job of convincing me that I'm about to die." and I just don't find that magical for me.
Mr. Starkey: No splash, Captain.
Captain Hook: So, you want a splash, Mr Starkey? I'll give you a splash!
[Hook throws Mr Starkey overboard]
Captain Hook: Who's next?

I enjoy being the smaller person in the ride vehicle. I always get a thrill out of sliding around and being tossed around on BTMR. To me, it's part of the fun. However, I don't think I would have liked that on ToT.

I am a thrill ride wimp as well. I have never ridden Big Thunder Mtn or Space Mtn or Expedition Everest. Heck, I have not even read Dumbo.

However, I have been forced on Tower of Terror, Rockn' Rollercoaster, Test Track, and Splash Mtn.

I may possibly ride Test Track and/or Splash Mtn. again, but not the rest of them.

I leave for Disney in like 2 days, so we will see what I am brave enough to do, or what I get pushed onto.

What is everyone so afraid of? Not many people have died or gotten hurt on Disney rides. If anything bad happens Disney gives you cash and LIFE TIME PASSES!!! I'd risk injury for LIFE TIME PASSES, I might even put my DW in harms way. Don't even say anything, she has me insured.

I really am only kidding!!    :goofy_bounce:

OK so during DL5 I did go on BTMR and almost had a problem.....But I kept pumping my legs to get the blood to the head and it kept me awake. BUT I couldn't enjoy the ride, so I don't think I will be going on it anytime soon.
