DVC like any timeshare is a luxury. The detailed analysis on "breakeven" is somewhat moot in that you're discussing your "entertainment" dollars and there is no "real" breakeven. You spend your discretionary income in a manner that makes you happy. . That is the core of the problem. If says "I drea...

Oh I agree it's a timeshare. Although I disagree working out the break-even point for the buy-in is all you have to worry about. I think you have to take that in account, just like when you buy a house, you need to account for the property taxes, association fees and the heating and water and landsc...

Read above we are infact DAKV DVC owners. You are correct I got some numbers mixed up, My 50 year Maintenance Fee numbers where for 200 points. Also I let people know what MF was the first place I used it, and if you read the DVC boards people use MF all the time. I recycled some numbers from anothe...

My wife and I road the "Green Team" less intense version once too. We did it so we could know what it's like when people ask, since we are the resident Disney experts in our circle of friends. Over the weekend I saw something on the Science Channel talking about a mission to Mars. And one of the sci...

Yep inflation is the wild card, as well as energy prices. In 15 years it might be unaffordable to travel to FLA from Boston. On the other hand we might all have our electric/solar powered Jetsons cars and able to make the trip for a few dollars for the weekend.

99Soulz , The maintenance fee(MF) is not "mainly" property tax. THe MF are also not the smallest part of the DVC cost. Year over year it's the smallest, but it adds up to be the largest part of the cost. The MF is between about $3-5 per point right now (each DVC location is it's own association hav...

Well Fort Wilderness isn't a DVD/DVC place. However, they have villas at Wilderness Lodge is. DVC is basically a timeshare. But instead of getting the 3rd week in February every year, you get "points" each year that you can use to book rooms. Officially it's call a limited partial ownership (or some...

yea since I've read every part of the contract, there isn't really any "fine print" but there is a lot of text. So I wonder what this "flaw" is. In general DVC is a good deal if you want a deluxe resort at least once every 3 years for the next 50 years. All the sales talk of switching out though II ...

I voted for Illumnations. I like it sightly better because of it's message. I rather like the message of Hope that Illumnations has as opposed to the message of just "Wishing" to fix it.

Not that wishes is bad, my wife loves it. And we always love watching it.

Why 7 months? You don't need any pass to enter Disney Parks until you are 3. And I believe that has been true since they got rid of the coupons. Which I barely remember, I think I had been to WDW once or twice durning the ticket era.

All you care to eat at Disney is not the same as a buffet. I know Ohana's for breakfast isn't a buffet (and as I recall neither is dinner), it's a fixed menu family style dining. You have a server that brings your table a big plate of food to the table and they will continue to bring food till you a...

I have also read that the building was not structurally sound. That after 16 years of supporting its own weight there were major problems. If you look at the timeline it makes sense. The attraction was closed for almost a year before it was replaced by Mission Space. Disney doesn't usually let some...
