The Speedway was built in Magic Kingdom simply for it's popularity at Disneyland, it was never futuristic in WDW. The Disneyland Autopia opened in 1955 before the invention of the Intersate, thus making it transportation of the future. I say use cars of the future (solar powered, hydrogen, anything)...

Completely different, but I remember years ago when I went on one of those behind the scenes tours (probably 20 years ago now) they mentioned that WDW could handle a certain amount of water (rainfall from hurricans and such) that it would store and use for watering all of the plantlife throughout.....

Yeah the original balloons were more geared to "Suns of the World" rather than the way they're currently used to simply represent the seasons... The "single global sun" was pictured on the middle balloon which represented the earth. Right now the Egyptian sun on the red balloon is the only one i can...

The CoP Rumor has made it sound like they're going to make it all retro and just give up on the last scene. The rumors I've heard said they're going to try and make it just like the 1964 version... which would explain the new posters outside the building
